Movie maker

I created this movie with consideration to my Prep class. They are currently learning about the zoo and I thought that this simple movie could prompt new ideas or bring up questions that they could use in their play time.

I have a question though - in movie maker, the song "circle of life" sounds clear, however, here it is muffled. Is that because it has shrunk in size? Is there anyway I can fix this?

To make this movie, I used Movie Maker. It is a fairly simple to use program, however it was not all smooth sailing. The program froze twice, and as I wasn't consistently saving my work - I had to redo a lot of my work. The final movie does not have different transitions because I was getting frustrated (it originally did, but I lost it) so I published it as it was. Has anyone else had the program freeze on them?? Is there any other program that people think is better??

Although I did have a few hiccups, Movie Maker does create satisfactory movies. This program could be easily used in the classroom. In any subject area, students could create a movie to display their knowledge, it is group user friendly and is a fun way to display information.

  1. Hi Sarah,

Not sure if you wanted the whole movie on the website, but for some reason I can only see the giraffe. There is no option to play the movie?

If you work out how to put the movie on (so it plays) would you be able to let me know how you did it.

As for Movie Maker hiccups, they are not unusual. When I was at school one of our assignments required us to make a movie, and the program froze a couple of times. In the end we were saving every time we changed something.

I am not sure how the song problem could be fixed. I usually just save the song, import audio/music, then drag it down onto the audio/music line. This has usually always worked for me so I am not sure how you could fix the sound.

I think your ideas for using Movie Maker in the classroom are great ideas. I also think that Movie Maker could be used to make a movie to show parents, or to create an end of year, class year book. The class year book could be made with images from the year, film from througout the year, music, student voice overs and/or scanned images of student work.

I really like Movie Maker, and find that when the movie is carefully planned before construction and frequent saving throughout the construction phase occurs a polished film will be produced.

    Kelly.

  2. To play the move you just have to press the arrow (play button - next to the sound)), it works for me - can you please let me know if it still wont play? thanks. I just downloaded Photo story - i like the fact that you can 'make' your own music. but what i like about movie maker is that all the tools are on one page whereas, on photo story, you go through a sequence of events starting with uploading photos... writing titles etc. you can go backwards but i just prefer how movie maker is set out.

  4. Well, i saved my movie onto my computer (small size - compatable for internet use). Then when I went to create a new blog, I uploaded it through the "upload video" icon. Hope that helps.
